One day king Hezekiah got sick.

Isaiah, the man who told the people God’s words, came to Hezekiah and said, Get the stuff ready at your house because you are going to die.

When the king heard these words from God he turned his face to the wall and prayed to God.

He said, I beg you, O Lord, remember how I did all that you said, and nothing from the bad ones. I only did what you saw was good.

Then Hezekiah cried deep sobs and big tears.

As Isaiah left the king and was walking across the courtyard, God spoke to him and said, Turn back and go tell the king who is in charge of My people, say to him, The God of David, your father has heard your prayer and seen your tears.

I will heal you and on the third day you will go to worship at God’s house.

I will add fifteen years of days to your life.

And I will deliver you and this city from the bad king.

I will watch over and protect this city for My own sake and for My servant David.

Then Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs and lay it on Hezekiah’s sore and he will get well.

Hezekiah asked Isaiah, What sign do you give to show that God will heal me?

Isaiah asked Hezekiah, Do you want the sun to go forward ten steps or back ten steps.

Hezekiah said, It’s easy for God to make the sun go forward ten steps, that's the way it’s already going. Have God make the sun go back ten steps.

So the Lord God who controls the sun and stars and everything made the sun go back ten steps when Isaiah prayed to the Lord to do this sign for the king.

When the king of Babylon, a big strong country that bowed down to bad ones, heard that Hezekiah had been sick, he sent men to visit Hezekiah.

Hezekiah showed the men all the riches and treasures of the Lord’s kingdom.

There was nothing in all the kingdom of the Lord that Hezekiah did not show these men.

Then the Lord God sent Isaiah talk to Hezekiah.

He said, Who were these men and where did they come from?

Hezekiah told Isaiah who the men were and where they came from.

Isaiah asked Hezekiah, What did they see here?

Hezekiah told Isaiah, I showed them everything. There is nothing here that I did not show them.

Then Isaiah said, Listen to what the Lord God says about this:

Days are coming when all the treasures that your fathers laid up over all the years will be carried away from here to Babylon. Nothing will be left.

And the sons that you will have, they will be taken to be servants who have no children in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, The Lord’s word is good for there will be peace and truth and no trouble in my days.
