Mary who sat at Jesus feet while her sister Martha worked, had a brother whose name was Lazarus. They were followers and friends of Jesus.

Lazarus got sick and was about to die so the sisters sent for Jesus to come make the sickness go away so Lazarus wouldn’t die, but Jesus waited until Lazarus was dead and then went to them. Jesus followers said, We can’t go back there, they are trying to kill you. But when Jesus went anyway, they went with Jesus saying, Then we will go too and die with Him.

When Jesus got there, Lazarus had already been buried for four days. Martha came out to see Jesus and said, If you had been here, Lord, my brother wouldn’t have died. Jesus hugged her and patted her and said, He will get up again. Martha said, I know he will rise again when they all get up from being dead.

Then Jesus said to Martha, I am the raising up and the being alive; whoever trusts Me will never die. Do you believe this? Martha said, Yes, Lord. I believe that you are the promised One that has come into the world from heaven.

Then Martha went to get her sister Mary. Lots of people were at their house crying with them. When Mary went out to see Jesus the other people there with them followed her out thinking she was going to the grave to cry.

When Mary got to Jesus she said, Lord, if you had been here my brother wouldn’t have died. Jesus cried too. Then they went to the grave. It was a cave with a big stone rolled in front of it. Jesus told them, Take the stone away. Martha said, Lord, by now he stinks real bad. He’s been dead four days. Jesus said, Didn’t I tell you that if you believe you will see the power of God. So they took the stone from the mouth of the cave.

Jesus lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard Me. I know that you always hear Me but because of the people standing here watching I said it, so they will believe that You sent Me.

Then Jesus yelled out loud, Lazarus, Come out! And Lazarus got up from being dead and came out of the grave wrapped up in the dead clothes with a scarf tied around his face. Jesus told them, Untie him and let him go.

Many of the people who had been at their house, when they saw this, they believed that Jesus is the promised One sent from God.

But some went and told the leaders about it. They got all the leaders together and said, This man does many amazing miracles. If we don’t stop Him, everyone will believe in Him and the Romans will come take the country away from us.

One top leader said, It is better for one man to die for the people, than that we lose the whole country. And Jesus was going to die not just for their country but to gather together into one family all the children of God that were scattered everywhere. So Jesus didn’t walk around where the leaders were anymore but went out into the wild places with His followers.

Six days before time for the big party to celebrate God bringing them out of being slaves in Egypt, Jesus went to Mary and Martha’s town where He raised Lazarus from being dead. They made a special supper for Him there and one woman who had done lots of bad stuff brought some very nice perfumed oil that cost lost of money and poured in on Jesus feet.

One of Jesus’ followers said, We should have taken that perfume and sold it and given the money to the poor. But the man just wanted to sell it and take the money for himself. Jesus said, Don’t bother her. She did a good thing for Me. You always have the poor people here with you and you can do good things for them all the time; but I won’t always be here with you.

Many people came to see Jesus there and believed on Him because Lazarus was there that He raised from being dead.

The next day when the feast came, they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Jesus coming into Jerusalem and yelled out, Praise God, Happy is the King of Israel that comes filled with the Lord God.

The leaders saw the whole city going after Jesus. They said, The whole world has gone after Him.

Jesus said, Now it is time to show the shiny brightness of the Son of God. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies it will just be one by itself. But if it dies it will grow into many more.

If you let go of your life you will get it back and much more forever.

Then Jesus talked to the heavenly Father, I am upset. You can do everything. Save Me from this. But show everyone Your goodness and power and shiny brightness.

A voice came from heaven saying, I have and I will.

Jesus said, Now is time for the bad one to be spanked and put out. When I am lifted up, I will carry all men up to Me. The ones who believe on Me are believing in the One who sent Me.

I am the light of the world. The ones who believe in Me won’t stay in darkness. I didn’t come to hurt the world, I came to save the world.

Jesus knew it was almost time to leave the world and go back to His Father in heaven. He loved His own followers clear to the end.

Jesus knew that the Father had given all of everything into Jesus hands and He was going back to the Father to be made boss and King over everything.

So Jesus took off His coat and kneeled down with a pan of water and washed His follower’s feet. When it was Peter’s turn Peter said, You will never wash my feet. But Jesus said, If I don’t wash you, you can’t be mine. Then Peter said, Then wash every part of me. Jesus said, You have been all washed because you believe in Me, only your feet get dirty now.

Jesus told them, You call Me Master and Lord, and that is true, so if I who am the boss over everything, serve you, then you serve each other the same way.

Jesus said, One of you is going to give Me to the leaders to be killed. The followers wanted to know who it was so Jesus showed them by dipping a piece of bread in gravy and giving it to the one. Then that one left to do it.

Jesus told them, Now My best goodness and shiny brightness will be shown to everyone and it will show God’s great shiny brightness of everything about Him.

Little ones, I am only with you for a little bit now and then I’m going to be gone away. And I give you a new thing to do. Love each other, like I have loved you. This is how everyone will know that you are Mine, because you love each other.

Peters said, Where are you going? Jesus told them, I’m going where you can’t come, but you will follow Me there later.

Peter said, Why can’t I come with you right now? I will even die for you. Jesus said, Will you? I tell you the truth, The rooster won’t crow again until you have said you don’t even know Me three times.

Jesus told them, Don’t let your heart be upset. You believe in God, believe in Me too. In My Father’s house are many big houses and I’m going there to get them ready for you to come and live there with Me. One follower called Thomas said, We don’t know where You are going. How can we know to get there?

Jesus said, I am the way to get there. I am the truth, and I am the One who makes life and is always being alive. No one comes to the Father but by going with Me.

A follower called Phillip said, Show us the Father. Jesus said to Him, Do you believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? The words I tell you are not Mine but from the Father. If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father. My Father who lives in Me does all these works. The ones who believe on Me will do bigger stuff than this.

Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it, so that everyone can see how good the Father is. Ask anything, I will do it.

If you love Me, do what I say and I will ask the Father and He will send you a helper to make your heart happy and help you. He will stay with you all the time now and for always. He is the Spirit of truth.

The world can’t have Him, because it doesn’t see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He stays with you and will be in you.

In a little while the world won’t see Me anymore but you see me. And because I live, you will live too.

Whoever has My words and keeps them loves me and My Father will love him and I will love him and show Myself to him. We will come and live in your hearts.

I tell you this while I am here with you, but the Holy Spirit from the Father will teach you everything and help you remember everything I told you.

I give you quiet peace in your hearts. Don’t let your hearts be upset. Be happy that I am going home to be with My Father. He is greater than I am.

I told you this now, so you will believe in Me. The bad one is coming and has nothing in Me.  I love the Father and do what He says.
