When Moses had been on the top of the mountain with God a long time the people said to Aaron, Make us gods. We don’t know what happened to Moses. So Aaron took the people's gold earrings and made a big golden calf. The very first thing God told them not to do.

The next day the people had a big party and were doing lots of things from the bad ones. They bowed down to the golden calf and sang and danced to it.

The Lord God told Moses, Go down because the people you brought out of Egypt have ruined themselves with the bad ones. They have made a golden calf and worshipped it, saying it brought them out of Egypt.

Let me alone to consume this people because they are stiff against me and I will make you into a great nation.

Moses begged God not to destroy the people. Remember your promise to make Abraham's children as many as the stars of heaven and to give them the promised land. Why should the Egyptians say that you brought the people out of Egypt to kill them?

Moses went down the mountain carrying the two stone tablets with God’s rules written on them. When Joshua heart the noise of the big party he thought it was war but Moses said, I hear the sound of singing.

When they got close to the camp they saw the calf and the dancing and Moses got very angry. He threw down the stone tables and broke them.

He took the calf and burned it in the fire and smashed it up to powder and sprinkled it on the water and made the people drink it.

Moses asked Aaron, What did they do to make you bring such a great sin on them? Aaron answered, Don’t be so angry, you know this people often lean toward the bad one.

Then Moses stood at the gate of the camp and said, Who is on the Lord’s side?. All the sons of Levi gathered to Moses and they took their swords and executed the ones who were following the bad ones that lead the people to forever death.

Then Moses said, Get ready for the Lord today for Him to put a blessing on you.

The next day Moses said to the people, You have sinned a great sin. I will go up to the Lord, maybe He will cover your sin.

So Moses went back to God and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin and made gods of gold. Please forgive their sin, and if not, blot me out also. The Lord answered Moses, Whoever sins against me, I will blot him out of my book.

Go, lead the people to the place I promised. My angel will go before you. A day will come when I will visit their sin on them because they made the calf.
